The Making of Maria is about the transformation of Maria Callas from an ugly duckling to the greatest opera diva of all ages, taking place in the most difficult social conditions: during the 2nd World War in Athens, Greece. Her mother, her sister, her Spanish teacher, her Greek lover, a German maestro, her father and Maria herself, all have their own version of the narrative about the making of the diva. The series consists of seven prime-time, hour-long episodes, each seen from the point of view of a person that claims to have made Maria, giving to the biopic genre an original twist.
